Abstract

|
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to study the effects of basic psychological needs and quality of life on college living satisfaction of nursing students.
Methods: Participants were 164 nursing students in the first grade of nursing department in one college. Basic psychological needs, quality of life, and satisfaction with college life was measured using self-reported questionnaire. Data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation, and hierarchical multiple regression.
Results: Male students, students who had willingness to voluntary drop-out, relatedness needs score of basic psychological needs, and environmental quality of life score were the influencing factors on the college living satisfaction.
Conclusions: College living satisfaction is an important factor in nursing student’s successful college life and nursing professionalism formation. Programs are needed to help meet basic psychological needs and quality of life for freshman of nursing department.
